Maintenance of roofs and façades
Work and maintenance performed on facades can be demanding and expensive to perform. Traditionally, it is common to set up a large scaffolding for relatively simple maintenance tasks. Høyden AS uses rope access as method for such tasks.
We enter the facade by establishing anchor points on the roof and rappelling down to the facade. We are always anchored in two different anchor points. So that if the main rope should be damaged, we always have a safety barrier. This is in accordance with the Working Environment Act's requirements for safe traffic at height. Safety is always the first priority when it comes to work at height. The area under the work site is secured with physical barriers and a ground guard. All equipment and tools, as well as loose objects, are secured properly so that they do not fall to the ground.
In this way, we can easily reach the areas where maintenance is to be carried out, and we can also reach points where no lift or scaffolding can reach.
The work we carry out will depend on the reason for the order. Our operations manager will inspect the job before we carry out the work.
We do inspections to ensure that we have the necessary tools and equipment with us when we start operations. An inspection gives us and the customer valuable insight into which working method is the most effective. If we see that the job will be more appropriate to carry out using other methods such as lifts, we inform the customer. When we enter a facade, we always have our eyes with us, and will inform the building owner about measures that may be relevant. This can, for example, be preventive measures such as installing a heating cable in the gutter, which will prevent frozen gutters and overflows. If we see tendencies to damaged joints in gutters as a result of ice cracking, we can seal immediately, and will then recommend the installation of heating cables. Our experience with clearing roofs gives us, and you as a customer, valuable information about when and where it may be appropriate to secure the roof for snow and ice slides.
