Pigeon net and pigeon pig
By mounting spikes on roof cornices, ridges, chimneys and gutters, it is possible to effectively prevent birds from making nests on roofs, and in this way prevent the building from being covered by bird droppings. The spikes can be easily mounted using rope access.
Dove spikes, as we call them, can be mounted on all types of roofs. We enter the roof via an attic hatch or doors. This type of work is not suitable to do from a lift, as one is dependent on being physically on the roof when it is to be mounted. Our technicians make sure that they are attached to two anchor points before they start the job. This is because such a type of job requires that we work closer than two meters from the edge of the roof.
In many cases, it will be appropriate to install a pigeon net to cover a larger area such as backyards or apartment buildings. We do this by tensioning a wire horizontally along the cornice. Along the tensioned wire, a fine-mesh pigeon net is mounted, where we use fangs every 20 cm. This prevents birds from entering the apartment building space.
The installation of pigeon spikes is a relatively simple operation and can be carried out in a short time, but of course depends on the size and complexity of the roof. This is a type of installation that is very cost-effective to solve using access techniques (rope work). Once our technicians are already on the roof and have established a rig for working on the roof, they can easily carry out a condition assessment of the roof in hours in addition to installation.
